Synopsis:

In the summer of 1976, Wan Dacheng and his wife Li Yuanni lived happily in a small room with their lovely children Wanda and Wan Deng. As the head of the family, Wan Dacheng devoted himself to protecting his family. He cared for his wife well, took good care of his children, and envied others. But there was an unforeseen event. A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.8 broke out in the Tangshan area. Facing a dangerous building that was about to collapse, Wan Dacheng, unfortunately, died when he chose to enter the dormitory to save his friends. After the earthquake, Li Yuanni discovered that a pair of sons and daughters were trapped under a concrete slab.

If they were to be rescued, one of them would have to be sacrificed. In desperation, she chose to protect her brother and sacrifice her sister, causing Wan Deng’s heart to be severely damaged. By mistake, Wan Deng was taken in and brought up by Wang Deqing and his wife. But Wan Deng has been tangled and suffering in the “aftershocks” all his life. At the same time, Li Yuanni also dared not pursue happiness because she could not resolve the guilt in her heart.

Thirty-two years later, after experiencing a series of life hardships such as marriage setbacks and psychological barriers, Wan Deng finally mustered up the courage to return to her long-lost home from across the ocean. When she saw her mother spending her entire life repaying what she owed her in a way of self-punishment, Wan Deng had mixed feelings and decided not to run away anymore, but to open her arms to all relatives
