Lake Hyoko is located in Agano City, Niigata Prefecture. It is currently classified as a conservation area. Every winter, many migratory birds from Siberia fly to this lake. There are many different species of birds here. For tourists to admire each other up close, especially the swans. Every year there will be about 5,000 swans flying to show off their beauty.

This lake makes this place famous as a beautiful swan viewing spot. You will meet the uncle who comes to feed the swans every day, 3 times a day, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 3 p.m. The uncle will walk and scatter food from the bridge continuously. along with calling out to birds and swans It can be said to be an impressive image that is not easy to find.

How to travel:

  • From Niigata Station, take the JR Shin-etsu Main Line to Niitsu Station. Then change to the JR Uetsu Main Line and get off at Suibara Station. Then take a taxi to Lake Hyoko Swan for about 5 minutes.
  • 30 minutes on foot/5 minutes by taxi from Suibara Station on the JR Uetsuhonsen Line.
  • 15 minutes by car from Niitsu IC on the Banetsu Expressway
