The founder of Suzhou “Dumb Shengjian” is Yu Eryuan, who lost the ability to speak due to an illness at the age of 9. At the age of 13, he was sent to a snack bar by his family as an apprentice, and after 3 years of study, he returned to help in the pan-fried steamed bread shop opened by his father.
