Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew, Khao Khor district, Phetchabun province. Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew was created on the auspicious occasion of celebrating His Majesty the King’s 60th Birthday Anniversary. The temple is beautifully designed with extravaganza architecture like no other Buddhist monasteries in Thailand. The temple not only offers picturesque scenery of the surrounding mountain ranges and the sea of white fog, it also presents the impressively-designed colorful architectures unlike any other temples in Thailand.

The overall temple is decorated with Benjarong porcelain, tiles, glass beads, pearls, rings, silver, gold and numerous precious ornaments. When the sun shines throughout the area, the temple will become a gorgeously sparkling making it a beautiful heaven-like backdrop on earth, making it is extraordinarily beautiful and sacred place most worth visiting. The temple was given the name ‘Pha Sorn Kaew’ as it is derived from hearsay of the residents. Literally means ‘the cliff where the sacred stone is hidden’ local residents here believe that the sacred Buddha relic has descended down and disappeared in the cave in front of the mountain top, so they built up the temple to enshrine the Buddha relic.

How to Get There:

From Bangkok, take Highway 21 through Saraburi and Lopburi, then turn left onto Highway 12 nearby Phor Khun Pha Mueang Intersection. Keep driving straight towards the Pine Camp. Notice the Pine Camp Tambon Administration Office on the right hand side, make a U-turn over there. The entrance to the temple is located in the entrance of the village next Tambon
