Three people dead after multiple-car crash in Queensland, Australia

Three people have died following a crash in Queensland’s Bundaberg Region.

Police are currently at the scene after three vehicles crashed on Childers Road near Rosevale Drive in South Bingera, southwest of Bundaberg, on Sunday about 9.10am.

All three people died at the scene and have been identified as a 60-year-old man, and two women aged 62 and 63.

Gavin Becker of Queensland Ambulance Service said the crash occurred in a 100 km/h zone.

Queensland Police said in a statement the crash involved a head-on collision.

It’s believed the Holden Commodore veered onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into a Honda Jazz but police don’t know why.

The Honda then rolled and hit a tree on the side of the road before being hit by a Hyundai sedan travelling behind it.

The Holden was driven by the 60-year-old man while the two women were in the Honda.

65-year-old man had to be freed from the Honda. He was seated in the front passenger seat.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman told Yahoo News Australia he’s been transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 65-year-old woman, who was behind the wheel on the Hyundai, was transported to hospital in a stable condition after complaining of back pain.

The QAS spokesman added the rescue helicopter was called to the scene by wasn’t required.

The forensic crash unit is now investigating.
