Suvarnabhumi Airport

Suvarnabhumi Airport or Suvarnabhumi International Airport Located in Bang Phli District Samut Prakan Province 25 kilometers from the city center of Bangkok, officially opened for commercial service on September 28, 2006, which the government has designated Suvarnabhumi International Airport. It is the main airport of Thailand instead of Don Mueang Airport. And Suvarnabhumi Airport used to be ranked as one of the top 10 airports with the best service quality in the world in 2010.

Suvarnabhumi, meaning “Golden Land“, was the ancient name of a region believed to be located in present-day South East Asia. Since prehistoric times, this land was inhabited by a great variety of ethnic groups that built communities and kingdoms over many eras.

The airport was officially opened for public on 28th September 2006 and has a total of three terminals, out of which the first and second terminal receives international flights while the third one is for domestic flights.

Suvarnabhumi airport terminal is approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) east, half an hour from the broad Bangkok CBD area, depending on traffic and time of day. The most direct route is via the raised freeway between, which incurs a toll of 70 Baht and airport tax of 50 Baht – total of 120 Baht (approx $4.)
