Doi Inthanon National Park at Chiang Mai of Thailand

Doi Inthanon National Park is the highest mountain in Thailand that belong in Chiang Mai province. The National Park have the height about 2,565 meters above sea level. This is a part of the Himalayan Mountain System that stretches all the way from Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar to Northern side of Thailand. Doi Inthanon has different types of landscapes and forests including rain forest, coniferous forest, and mixed deciduous forest.

During year round at the mountain have cold climate especially in cool season is usually foggy all day on the peak and sometimes freezes. Within the area of Doi Inthanon National Park are a number of natural tourist attractions such as Mae Ya Waterfall, the Siribhumi Waterfall, the Vajirathan Waterfall and Barichinda Cave with fascinating stalactites and stalagmites and flow stones that very shimmers in the sunlight.

The major center of ecological learning has the Kiw Mae Pan nature trail which you can see an untouched hill on evergreen forest. Some part of the trail runs along with the cliff edge and majestic fog covered landscape on rare plants. In addition, that they have signs about information for hikers route to learn in the natural experience. This is suitable for people who would like to fully appreciate nature. The trail was given the award for the best ecological tourist attractions at the 4th Thailand Tourism Awards in year 2002.

On the Doi Inthanon mountain you can enjoy many activities such as watch bird with nice views. When you visit this place you might see many kinds of birds and people told that at the mountain have more than 380 birds type.

Furthermore Doi Inthanon is where the Inthanon Royal Project Research Station located. It is research at the station for cold climate floras along with projects for study, comply ferns, coffee research projects and guava research projects, the scenery of rice terraces, Karen people’s intellectuals and various hill tribes’ lifestyle. Also, the mountain is where Phra Mahathat Napha Methanidon and Phra Mahathat Naphaphon Phumisiri of the twin stupas are situated. Set among with the natural beauty area in Doi Inthanon Peak that they were both built for honor of King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit.

  • The national park’s located at the ninth milestone of the Highway no. 1009 then ask the direction from officers to advice the way.
