China trade surplus with US increases

New data out of China shows its trade surplus with the United States increased in June. That’s despite the ongoing economic dispute between the two countries.

The figure for last month stands at $29.92 billion. That’s up about 11.3 percent from May.

Chinese customs officials report that overall, exports fell 1.3 percent from a year earlier. Imports dropped 7.3 percent.

That makes for a trade surplus of $50.98 billion, a 22.5 percent hike compared with the same month last year.
